Information/Paperwork for TMS for Depression
Non-invasive treatment for depression.
TMS therapy for depression is a non-invasive and safe intervention, carefully designed to complement existing treatments and offer an alternative for those who have not responded to traditional therapies.
TMS therapy has been in use for over 30 years and is currently used extensively in the USA, Europe as well as Australia. TMS is done using a special machine which has a magnetic coil attached to a mechanical arm. This allows for an electromagnetic pulse to be delivered to a precise region in the brain. While receiving TMS, the patient is seated in a comfortable reclined position. The TMS coil is placed on the patient’s head at the correct position and delivers precise impulses to a small section of the brain.
By consistently staying abreast of the latest advancements in TMS research and technology, we are able to provide effective solutions for individuals seeking lasting relief from the debilitating impact of depression.
Treatment resistant depression covered under Medicare.
Medicare will cover TMS therapy for patients who have tried antidepressants from two different classes with no success (either due to inadequate responses or intolerable side-effects).
Generally, the only out-of-pocket costs are any GP consultations with Dr David Tadj (see fees here)
